What Will the Future of Dentistry Look like?

The future of dentistry should be of interest to everyone since a person’s oral health has a close link to their overall health. The technology of dentistry has experienced drastic changes in the past few years. And there is reason to believe that the twenty-first century will have advances that surpass what people imagine is possible.

These changes are due in part to the biological and digital information revolutions that are drastically changing the medical and pharmaceutical world. Dentists are no longer concerned with simply repairing damage that is done to a person’s teeth. Instead, they are helping their patients see how improving their overall health, managing dental risk, and preventing a dental disease can have a positive impact on their teeth.

Other changes that are affecting the future of dentistry are advances in therapeutics, biomaterials, and bioengineering. This means that the future of clinical dentistry will include things like orthodontists having the ability to grow real teeth to replace the ones that their patients have lost. Prescription medicine will be tailored not to only to the ailment that a patient has, but it will also match their genetic code. Steps will be taken to protect infants from future tooth decay even before the first tooth breaks through their gums.

Something like growing a new tooth seems miraculous. This is because of the complexity of a tooth. It has enamel, dentin and cementum. The human tooth is remarkably strong while at the same time fragile.

As researchers learn more about the microbial genomes that make up the tooth, they are also learning how to manipulate and fabricate them. There has been growth in the digital dentistry industry. Computer-assisted radiography and nanotechnology is being experimented with to manipulate teeth on the atomic level. As these technologies grow, they will influence the way that future dentists work. An understanding of these new technologies will not be limited to medical professionals. As these technologies branch out and become a part of everyday life, the public will have a more sophisticated understanding of how they work and will become more accepting of their use in both the prevention and treatment of dental issues.

Dentists are working now to develop future oral health care models that will improve the oral health of all people. This new approach to care, as well as an improvement in the oral health education of the population, will lead to future revolutions in dental health.

Spending Christmas With Our Furry Friends

This is already our second year of spending Christmas with or furry friends at home and as usual same as what we did last year, we included them in our Christmas gift giving.  I bought 3 different set of gifts for Alonzo (Golden Retriever), Lucio (Japanese Spitz and Shih-Tzu cross breed) and Marcus a pure Shih-Tzu.

Actually each one of us in the family has his/her own buddy.  Mine is Marcus (my baby), Lucio is my son Edmar's best buddy and Alonzo, the biggest among the three belongs to my daughter Mika.  Just the same, I love the three of them.

I bought my baby Marcus a brand new comfy, he really loves it!

See...he loves it, I told you!

For Lucio, I gave him a new blue dish and a pack of dog treats.

And lastly, for Alonzo I gave him a very nice, colorful  but sturdy and durable toy that he could bite to his heart's content.  This Golden Retriever is really playful and the youngest of all.  He would normally bite everything that he sees around the yard, so I want him to have something that he would not mind biting the whole day (lol).

My daughter Mika passing the toy to him. So cute!

Very busy with his new toy!

Needless to say, our furry friends complete our family.  I just have two kids but because of them, I feel like having five (lol).  I would admit that although they annoy me most of the times because of their mess and everything, in the end, I would still say that they are certainly God's gift to us. They don't only protect us and our home but they are also very good and loyal companions.  I couldn't remember how many times I was relieved from stress every time I see them especially the cutest one, Marcus who is really so sweet to me.

Spending Christmas with out furry friends is really a wonderful experience, even hubby who spent Christmas with them for the very first time was so happy and really had a lot of fun.

These furry friends are heaven sent!

Trends to Look for in the New Year

Your home decor is a reflection of you--the things you like, the things that best express your personality. Decor in your home can also be a great way to follow trends in upholstery, lighting, flooring and more. If you want your house to stay on trend in the coming year, here are a few home trends you should watch out for in your local and online decor stores.

Shades of Blue
One of the hottest decor colors now is blue. There are so many shades of blue that you can choose from for your walls or flooring, but some of the most popular shades for the new year include the deeper blues such as navy and indigo. If you are using this dark colors for your walls, you can create a dramatic contrast with white flooring and furniture, or even lighter shades of blue.

Extra Texture
Another hot home trend emerging is more texture to the materials used for flooring and upholstery. A really bold look in house decor now is faux fur. You can use this is a variety of ways. If you want to start small, you can use faux fur accent pillows or throws to cuddle up with on the sofa. If you want to make a more dramatic statement, chairs covered in faux fur are also selling well.

Along with faux fur, natural fiber rugs are also being used in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms to add an earthy texture to a room. of course, these go well with more natural accents such as wood furniture and flooring, clay decor items and subtle color schemes such as green and brown.

Pink Power
In decor, the color for the upcoming year is pink. While some may be turned off by decorating with a bold color like pink, it can be brought in through a variety of different decor items without being overpowering or too feminine. If you want to have a single statement piece, you can use a chair or accent rug in a bright pink color. Subtle pinks are great for rooms with an overall dark tone, such as a deep brown or navy wall color. The best pink accents to use while still keeping the room relatively neutral is a pearlized pink color because they can look more white or beige, depending on the lighting in the room.

Online Christmas Shopping Through lazada

This is not a sponsored post, I just want to share my experience doing online Christmas shopping at Lazada.  This year, since we are very busy now with all our home improvement projects, I've decided to shop online for my Christmas gifts.  We do have our traditional exchange gifts every year and this is only what I shop through Lazada.  I never bought anything for myself as I feel like there is no need to do that at the moment as I still basically have everything in my closet.

As compared to shopping at the malls, online shopping is hassle free.  You don't need to fall in line and wait for so long especially during sale season where the crowd in the mall is really unexpected. Also, I could free myself from the possibility of being scammed. Pick pockets are everywhere especially during the holidays so doing your shopping while in the comforts of your own home is the safest thing to do.  Transaction at Lazada is really fast and easy, not to mention that it is so secure. You can opt to pay cash on delivery so you don't need to face the risk of using your credit cards online.  What more, I was able to get huge discounts from the vouchers that are being sent to me through email.

As of November to December, I already bought about 9 items through Lazada and I never had any huge problem with any item I bought.  Now, I have all the items in my hand and ready to be gift wrapped. I got few steal from their online sale which I just don't want to mention here yet since these items will be given as gifts. :)

As of now, I am still planning to buy 3 more items to complete my Christmas shopping.

What a great way to celebrate Christmas!  Thanks Lazada!

Online Christmas Shopping

I am already done with my Christmas shopping and this time, I did all the shopping online.  I only shop for gifts for our traditional exchange gifts which we normally do on Christmas eve.  I have some reasons why I did my shopping online this year, we are very busy with the ongoing projects at home. We have decided to have a house expansion (additional room and terrace) and it's on the second floor of our garage.  Due to the ongoing construction works, we can't simply leave home so going to the malls for shopping is not that convenient for me now.  Besides, I can't resist all the advantages that I get from online shopping.  Aside from the fact that it is so convenient, I can be assured that I would be safe from pick pockets and of course I can have a lot of savings from discount coupons and from all the incidental expenses such as transportation expenses, eat outs and impulse buying which usually happen when you go to the mall.

I could also save on my time coz I normally do my online shopping during my breaks from my online classes.  I was having difficulty thinking of what to buy for my daughter.  She had lots of clothes and personal stuff already.  I am thinking of buying studio Kans for her but I'm still having some deep thoughts about it.  I want to make sure that she will get delighted with my Christmas gift.  Anyway, I still have few days to decide.  The most important thing is that I'm already done choosing for the rest of the family members.

I really love online shopping, it's very convenient, fast and reliable.

Dealing With Skin Allergy

My daughter and I decided to do some general cleaning around the house last October and that includes our backyard.  We get rid of the grasses and trim the plants.  It's been a while since we've last cleaned the yard and after more than an hour, I've decided that we really need to hire someone to do it.  It's really a tedious job and I have a pile of other works to do so we eventually stopped and contacted someone to do the job for us.  I always want the yard tidy and neat.  I don't want to see mice, mosquitoes and other insects around the yard which can spread some disease so it's been a practice to clean the yard regularly.  If we can't afford to do it ourselves, I always hire someone to do it for us.  Unfortunately that night, after I took shower, I've noticed that I my arms are itchy and when I checked my arms, I've found skin rashes.

At first, I just see some red spots but these gradually developed into dark spots and really itchy. I did self medication, I took meds (Celesthamine) just had it once a day for few days, then I used Sulfur soap in my arms whenever I take shower.  I also apply the creme "katialis".  This cream is cheap but it really removes the itchiness, very effective.  The only problem with "katialis" is that after applying it for several days, my skin appeared to be so dry and looked like I have undergone minor burns. Applying skin lotion won't help. Finally, hubby asked me to apply Vaseline's Petroleum Jelly and to my surprise, after one application, I saw immediate improvements.  Red spots gradually disappeared and my skin is almost back to normal now.

I will continue applying this until my skin fully recovered and get back to normal.

Sometimes, home medication works.  We just have to be careful and do a lot of research.

5 Benefits of Online Training Courses

You don't always have to learn in a classroom. In fact, online courses are quickly catching up to "traditional" learning in terms of popularity and prestige. But what if you're a little unsure about a digital education? What if you'd like more reassurance that online training courses are right for you? Here are just five of the advantages you'll enjoy when you go virtual with your learning.

1. No Commute

When everything is done through the computer, you don't have to physically attend classes. This means you don't have to commute to school every morning; you don't have to spend money on gas or parking; you don't even have to get out of bed if you can still do your coursework horizontally.

2. Decreased Prices

Never again worry about rising fuel prices! You'll also save a bundle on things like pens, notebooks, textbooks and other educational paraphernalia. Since it's all digital, everything you need can be found online. You might still need to pay for an e-book or two, but it'll cost less than traditional hardbacks.

3. Increased Convenience

Set your own schedule. Get certified while in your pajamas. Take breaks whenever the kids need you. When you aren't stuck in a classroom for 90-minute stretches, forced to listen to a lecturer no matter what else might be going on with you and your life, you have much more freedom for learning the way you like to learn.

4. More Time to Study

Speaking of learning, if you hate having to take tests or perform rotations at the whims of someone else, online courses are great for giving you back the control. While you might be asked to perform a quiz by a certain deadline, it'll be up to you to decide which day or what time will give you the best performance.

5. Better Support Staff

Do you have a question about the course or a query about your grade? You don't have to awkwardly linger around a teacher's desk to ask them about it. Simply shoot them an email and get all the information you need. Since the entire course is online, they'll always have an email address.

These are just a few great benefits of online learning. Whether you're personally training for a new career or accrediting large institutions for the same purpose, virtual training courses are an excellent way to embrace education in the 21st century. Browse here to learn more.

Is It Possible To Save Money On A Low Income?

This has been the most intriguing question that a lot of people had probably asked.  As a matter of fact, I also asked this question to myself and you know what my answer is?  It's a big YES! Having worked with different people from various age groups, status, race, educational background and social standing for the past 20 years had enabled me to have a better view and knowledge about finances and based from my observation on other people and from my own life experiences, I could say that's possible.  Really, it is!

Let me tall you one thing, not every person who is high salaried or has a big income has substantial savings.  As a matter of fact, some of them do not even have a single centavo in the bank.  Worse than that, they are full of debts.  Having said that, you maybe surprised that some people with low salary or income do grow big overtime.  This clearly shows that your attitude about money has a big influence over your financial standing.

Okay, going back to the question, "Is it possible to save money on a low income?" I have already answered this earlier with a yes, but probably the next question is How?

The answer is, you have to examine your lifestyle and make adjustments where necessary. The old saying, "If there's a will, there's a way" is always true.
  • If your income is low, then you have to make your lifestyle fit with your income.
  • Spend only what you can actually afford and never resort to debts. If it means having to cut down on your expenses, then do!
  • Make a budget and prioritize the needs over wants.  If it means only spending for foods and utilities, do so.
  • If your expenses are just within the budget and there's no extra for savings, the you have to start doing side jobs or find an extra source of income.
  • Bear in mind that it is a must to have savings, even if it means just saving 100 pesos every month, so be it, but never go for zero savings.  No matter how small your savings is, it can grow overtime.
What I have done before was to keep all of my 13th month pay in the bank as part of my savings aside from the little savings I kept every month.  What I did was to buy gifts every month until I complete all the gifts I need on Christmas and to keep a little bit of money every month for the anticipated holiday expenses.  This way, I'm able to save my 13th month pay and increase my savings tremendously.

There are actually a lot of ways to save even on a low income but I know it's very difficult as this requires a great amount of discipline.  Nonetheless, you have to do it if you really want to make a change and improve your financial standing.

Great Gifts for Men: the Top 4 Gifts Any Man Will Love

Buying a gift for a special man in your life can seem like a daunting task. Whether you’re buying for the holiday season, a birthday or just for no reason at all, gift giving scares the average person more than you might think.

However, even if you’re giving a gift to a picky man who seems like he has everything there’s something out there that will make him happy. Use this guide to help you pick the perfect gift for any man you need to buy for this year.

If you want to give the man in your life a gift that will truly knock his socks off, you really can’t do much better than a fashionable watch. While this gift is probably best reserved for family members or partners, you can’t go wrong giving a man a watch that he’ll probably wear at least a few times per week.

Best of all, a high quality watch is a gift that he’ll be able to keep for the rest of his life. He’ll think of you every time he wears it, too.

Desk Set

Men that work a lot appreciate the finer things in their offices, so a quality pen or desk set is a great option. These types of gifts are also impersonal enough that you can give them to your boss around the holiday season without it seeming too strange.

Shaving Set

Every guy, unless he happens to be a lumberjack, needs to shave on a regular basis. Unfortunately most men just don’t feel like they should be buying good shaving blades and quality shaving soap for themselves.

That’s where you come in. Buy him a great shaving set and he’ll look and feel better for months. He might even keep buying the products you give him once he sees how much better a good shave really is.

Even men that don’t drink a lot enjoy scotch from time to time it seems, so buying a good bottle is never really a wrong move unless the man you’re buying for abstains altogether. Even if he doesn’t like scotch so much he’ll appreciate the effort and he’ll love to have a bottle around for when his friends come over.

Every guy at least has one or two buddies that like a good glass of scotch.

Marcus Cupkeyks On It's 3rd Year

I take pride in my passions and I strongly believe that doing what you love is not work but fun. This is why me and my son have decided to venture into a cup cake business.  We both have a passion for baking and my son's passion for arts was also transformed in this little business of ours. We make customized cup cakes, simple party cup cakes and anything that our customers would request. At first, we are not sure whether we could make it and whether we could get customers to patronize our products but we just told ourselves that we are not more into making it big actually, bust just to be able to do what we love.  I am actually the one who loves to bake but since my son is a "little me", he would certainly try what I love to do. :)

We began creating our own designs:

customized fondant cup cakes

We also came up with regular cup cakes for parties and we're truly delighted with a very good response from our loyal customers.

We also begin to offer party give away cup cakes as requested by clients.

And we didn't stop from there, we continue to develop new flavors and designs.

Introducing our Toblerone and Kit Kat cup cakes:

We also came up with a new design for special holidays like Christmas and Valentine's Day:

Indeed, we had traveled quite a long journey in this cup cake business and we also take pride and derive great pleasure for doing what we truly enjoy and love.  I just hope that we can continue to explore the business and my passion.  I would admit, there are still a lot of things to learn and to improve but that's what make everything fun and exciting.

Lastly, the name Marcus Cupkeyks was derived from the name of my shih-tzu pet Marcus whom we love so dearly.

More years to come and celebrate! :)

Simple Strategies To Start Looking And Feeling Your Best

Portland residents who want to look and feel their best should know that the process doesn't have to be complicated and arduous. In fact, you can make the endeavor relatively fast and simple by implementing some or all of these health and beauty tips:

1. Seek Professional Help.

Oftentimes, the best way to start looking and feeling your best is to obtain professional help. Cosmetologists and hair stylists typically attain extensive training and education in order to offer clients the personalized, precise care necessary to make them as aesthetically appealing as possible. For this reason, visiting a local salon is a great way to really jumpstart your appearance and send your confidence through the roof. One of the best hair salons in Portland is Gigi Salon Spa. This business offers excellent customer service and effective beauty treatments that make you look and feel incredible.

2. Make Exercise A Must.

In a country where only half its citizens exercise regularly, it's unsurprising to note that many people don't look their best. Exercise has numerous benefits that result in the optimization of your appearance, including:

• better posture
• a slimmer physique
• increased metabolism
• weight management
• glowing skin
• and much more

Since exercise is a relatively easy way to enhance your appearance, you should make regular activity an integral component of your lifestyle.

3. Use Natural Masks.

Typically, one of the primary regions of the body that people are concerned about is their face. This makes sense because having clear, glowing skin enhances your self-esteem and helps you feel confident when working and/or socializing with other people. One of the best ways to improve the appearance of your skin is with a natural mask. These masks are effective because they contain natural ingredients with vitamins, minerals, and/or antioxidants that soothe skin and speed the cellular renewal process. One of the simplest natural masks out there is mashed bananas. To reap the full benefits from this natural mask, make sure that your bananas are ripe. You'll know that they're ripe when they are covered in brown spots and are soft to the touch.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel your best. However, not knowing how to accomplish this objective can leave you frustrated. To ensure that you can really enhance your aesthetic appeal, try using the health and beauty techniques listed above. Doing so will likely empower you to attain the physical appeal that you're seeking!

How To Run An Organized Household

I was asked a number of times on how I manage to run an organized household with tons of activities and side duties I'm having.  I can't explain everything in detail and would normally respond in the simplest way I can, so I decided to write this post to share how I manage to be a busy Mom and yet organized.

The basic thing that you have to master in running an organized household is time management. I am a great fan of organization and wants everything in it's proper place. Cleaning and organizing is every Mom's job but what about if you still have tons of things to do aside from these two?  I used to have a house helper before and probably, this was a great help to me during the years that I was still active in the corporate world.  Now that we are on our own, doing all the household chores while managing the family's finances and having part time jobs is indeed a challenge for me.  Good thing that my son and daughter are both old enough to help around the house.

Let's look at these tips:

1.)  Make A Rule

It is quite tough to run an organized household, it is very important that everyone in the house is following a set of rules.  My basic rule in the house is that, "if you can't help me clean the house and keep it free from clutter, I would do it myself  but you have to help me keep it that way." In short, if you can't clean, then don't mess up! :)

2.)  Collaborative Household Works

Sharing with the household chores for me is an effective parental education tool. Collaboration works in every one's favor.  We had a house helper from the very beginning, since my kids were born and due to the fact that me and hubby are both working, we don't have any other choice but to employ a house helper. Although my Mom used to live with me when she was alive, I didn't want to burden her with house works.  I simply want her to rest and enjoy life while supervising our helper. However, aside from trying to cut on the expenses after I resigned from my work abroad, I also took the opportunity to train my kids in different house chores.  I know for a fact that it wouldn't be good for them not to learn these things especially when they begin to build families of their own. Besides, collaborative household works will make things a lot easier for me as a busy Mom.

3.)  Make A Schedule And Prioritize Tasks

In the beginning stage where you are trying to set a fixed schedule, it can be beneficial if you will come up with your ""to do list".  Planning ahead of time is very important for you to set your tasks in order of priority.  You can do your tasks according to the list and could always cross out the last items in the list if your time can't really allow you to do everything.  At the end of the day, you won't feel stressed out because you've managed to complete the more important tasks.

4.)  Get Things Done And Still Have Time For Yourself

Train your family that you too deserve a time for yourself.  Make them realize that you are human and not a machine and you deserve some time off for yourself. You can use this "free time" to watch your favorite TV program, read a good book, go for a rewarding coffee break or just simply play with your pets. Everybody deserves a break and no one can't do her work more effectively if she's totally burn out.  To achieve this, you can do multi tasking and time yourself so you could get things done on time and still have remaining time for yourself.

5.)  Get Away from Distractions

I may sound rude, but do you know that I used to tell my relatives to inform me ahead of time when they want to visit me in the house?  I have this rule that they should tell me when they want to come over and to avoid "ambush" visits.  This is so because I explain to them that I have routine chores in the house and things could pile up if I wouldn't do things as scheduled.  Besides, I have online (part time) jobs and I also need to have a little time for rest in between.  So, I am making known to them what is the perfect time for them to visit me or better yet, we come up with an agreed schedule.  This also allows me to plan on what would I prepare for them for snack or dinner.  I hate it when visitors come and they would arrive in a messy home and I could not offer any appropriate meal for us to partake.  More so, I also feel upset when I am unable to do things accordingly especially the more important ones.  Of course, it's different when it is an emergency situation where I have to cancel everything and attend to to an emergency. This seldom happens anyway. :)  Also, if you could avoid social networking sites during your "busy time", it would help a lot for you to beat your deadline.

A busy Mom doesn't have to be crazy or insane to do everything and please everyone. You can run an organized household, have a side job, have bonding moments with your family members and most especially, to have time for yourself and recharged.

Keeping Your Memories Alive

I am a person who gives strong emphasis on things with sentimental values.  I always like to keep a record of those happy memories I had.  We had our wedding ceremony recorded as well as the Christening of my two kids and their first birthday celebrations.  We wanted that way so we could always go back and reminisce those beautiful memories that our family had.  However, due to the advancement in technology, we were not able to preserve some of these recorded videos.  I really felt upset losing these special memories, how I wish I had a cd duplicator then so I could make several copies of these videos for back up.  Now, I lose the videos but not the memories coz until now, I could still remember clearly what had transpired during those special milestones in our lives.  I've learned my lesson though and I think it wouldn't hurt if I would learn to back up my videos to make sure that I wouldn't lose them.  I think, there is also a need to transfer these to a new format every time there is an upgrade in the technology.  For those short video clips of our travels, I'm glad we'd managed to post it on FB, at least we still can retrieve these videos online in case something went wrong with our CD's and hard drive.

There is really a need to keep our memories alive to remind us of how beautiful life is. :)

How You Could Possibly Go For An Early Retirement

Filipinos normally retire at the age of 60 to 65 years old but I am certain that given a choice, most of us would like to retire earlier than that.  Why not? Retiring early will be a dream come true for most people.  Who would not want to spend long years of their life doing things they love to do?  Perhaps going for a much needed vacation once in a while, eating out with your family, travel locally and abroad, going to movies, picking up a sport or simply following your passion while having control of your time.  This is definitely ideal, but the problem is how could we possibly achieve this?

Gaining control of your financial situation is the secret for getting an early retirement.  The first step that you have to do is to have a clear vision of what would you expect to happen during your retirement years.  We all know that retirement fund varies from person to person, that's why it is very important to figure out what do you foresee about yourself in the future. Having established this fact, you can now move on to the following steps to assure yourself of retiring early.
1.) Make A Plan
Making a plan is very crucial to achieving this goal.  The question would normally be, "Where would you get your spending money during your retirement years?"  Will it be from a profitable business?, substantial savings? or from passive income?

You see, I've decided to go for an early retirement.  I was just in my forty's when I've decided to resign from my job abroad two years ago.  Of course, before I came up with that decision, I made a plan.  I tried to figure out what would I do back home and whether we could still comfortably live on one income from hubby.  I still have a daughter who had just started in college and expenses would be quite tough.  After careful planning, I tendered my resignation, packed my luggage and flew back home.  Before I knew it, I am already enjoying the benefits of an early retirement.

2.) Review Your Expenses

What financial experts are saying is always true. Saving money is not just on adding income but lessening your expenses as well. If you are able to lessen your unnecessary expenses, it's tantamount to saving money in the long run.  As soon as I got home from abroad, I made a "spending plan".  I reviewed our monthly budget and tried to check on where could I cut down.  This has gone far as giving up our land line subscription as I noticed that this is rarely being used anyway as all of us at home has a mobile phone.  Last time also, the house helper is the one buying foods from the wet market, so I did it this time.  I'm not saying that I don't trust our helper enough but you know, it's different when I am in total control of what we're spending.  Later on, our helper decided to go for a vacation and I never asked her to come back again.  You see, it's only me, my son and my daughter at home and they are big enough to help around the house.  Because of that decision, I was able to save nearly 10K on expenses for a house help, not to mention the savings from utilities.  It's seemed like I have instant 12K of savings per month.

3.) Find Your Passion and Earn From It

I'm now at home enjoying the company of my children, managing the house and doing some hobbies like gardening, cooking, baking, reading and doing some arts and crafts.  Now what's next?  I lost an income from my job abroad but I am able to save some from our monthly budget for cutting unnecessary expenses.  For me not to touch my personal funds/savings and manage to still add up to it, I turned my passion into earning opportunities. I also made use of my skills to earn extra. This doesn't interfere with my early retirement since I am in control of my time and still at home most of the time.  I still enjoy life and my freedom from an eight hours corporate job.  I could watch TV and movies anytime I want and have scheduled pampering sessions at spa regularly.

4.) Diversify Your Income

Let me get to the point, It's a part of my plan to have a "passive income".  Of course, if I decide to retire early, that means freeing myself from the stress of working under a required schedule and dealing with office politics.  Maintaining a passive income is the answer to this.  You see, I've worked for more than 20 years to earn some money, it would be wise to let money work for me this time. This is why I've decided to invest on real estate which could give me monthly earnings without doing anything.  Properties I've invested into would be a part of my net worth.  This assures me and hubby of a comfortable home to stay during our old age and the rest could pay for some of our monthly expenses.  I've also managed to invest on UITF which I intend to keep invested for a longer period. Thanks to blogging, this is where I derived my UITF investment and from where I build up my "emergency fund".

Going for an early retirement is not really as hard as you can imagine, however, it requires a great amount of discipline, hard work and a strong determination to succeed.  Focusing on your goal and making it happen is hard but definitely rewarding.

It can be passed through sexual intercourse; it can be transmitted from mother to child; you might even have been exposed by sharing a razor that had someone else's blood on it. Hepatitis C is spread so easily that it isn't anyone's fault for getting it. It's just bad luck.

It Isn't Airborne

Despite the ease at which it's transmitted, it's important to understand that hepatitis C is not airborne and cannot be passed through things like hugging, touching or even coughing on one another. You don't have to be paranoid about catching or spreading hepatitis C. Just exercise caution when you have sexual intercourse or use needles.

It Affects the Liver

One of the main dangers of hepatitis C is its effect on the liver. The liver is responsible for fighting infections and purifying blood, so if those functions are compromised, hepatitis C will run rampant through the body. Left untreated, hepatitis C can lead to cirrhosis or even total liver failure.

The Symptoms Can Be Sneaky

Many symptoms of hepatitis C are indistinguishable from common illnesses like the flu. Here are just a few things you might be experiencing:

- Fatigue
- Fever
- Stomach pain

- Dark-colored urine
- Muscle aches

As you can see, it can be hard to tell what's a cold and what's hepatitis C. If you suspect you might have it, talk to your doctor immediately and ask them to perform special rapid tests on you.

It Can Be Treated

While it can't be cured, there are a number of medications available that will help you delay the spread of hepatitis C and prevent its ill effects on your health. If it's already done damage to your liver, you can also receive a liver transplant if you meet all of your hospital's qualifications.

These are just a few things you should know about hepatitis C. While it can be a deadly disease, early detection and rigorous treatment will work wonders. Contact your physician today to get a hepatitis C test.

Increase The Value Of Your Home

One of my favorite investments so far, is real estate investment. I have used up 80% to 90% of my earnings buying properties.  I did this because I want to have a passive income once I've decided to stop working.  However, if you want to liquidate your assets by selling your property, you have to learn the basics and one of this is knowing how to increase the value of your home.  Improving your home's curb appeal should be the first step.  I've seen a lot of Columbus Paver Patios and I could say that their designs are second to none.  Remember, you only get one shot at a first impression and making your front yard as attractive as possible could lead you to a good start.  It is basically important that you impress your potential buyer the moment he enters through the property.  It is absolutely nice to walk through an impressive walkway with a beautifully landscaped gardens.

Transforming your outdoor space into an ultimate retreat can do wonders in increasing the value of your home. I think it is not about the price, some trusted contractors can make an outstanding plan for your paver patios for an affordable price.  When you think of the design yourself, budget and function should be the top priorities in mind.  With many design options, you'll have plenty of opportunities to find the right style for you.

So whether you just bought a house, you have stayed there for a while, or you're renting it out, the fastest way to increase your home value is simply maintaining it and introduce improvements where necessary.  Upgrades should be made one step at a time.  You don't have to put so much pressure on yourself if you think that you're not ready for a major overhaul.  Start slowly, it's not a marathon. Proper planning and having an eye for details is definitely important.

Taking these baby steps could do a long way in increasing the value of your home and make the most of your real estate investment.

Foods As Medicine

When I started to get addicted with books, I get to know a lot of things that interest me. It's true that reading books will lead you to a lot of information on any subject of your choice. Since, I am most of the time at home now, I begin to be interested exploring in the kitchen and this is where I started to look for some nutritious recipes online.  I began to be interested in a healthy life style.  Seeing my older siblings suffer from various sickness made me think that our health should be our number one priority. What's the use of having lots of money when you don't have the energy to spend it.  What makes it worse is if you will just spend your hard earned money buying medicines and paying hospital bills.

One of my readings led me to this realization on foods as medicines.  According to the author of the book, traditional Chinese medicine therapists believe that each type of food has it's own unique property which perform certain functions and can work on a particular part of the body.  I guess, this is true and if we could get the healing benefits from medicines that are bought from the drug stores, why not in foods?  Getting the required nutrients to cure a particular illness will be better if taken directly from foods.  Now, I became a fan of natural healing.  Caring for the body all boils down to eating the right kinds of foods.  If we know what kind of food is good for certain parts of our body, we are on our way to natural healing method. What we put in the mouth can directly have an effect on our bodies from the inside.  Green foods are good for detoxification process in our body and a good source of calcium and fiber.  On the other hand, sweet potatoes, squash, yellow corns and other yellow fruits and veggies help prevent cancer and heart disease.  Tomatoes, cherries, dates, red beans and other red foods can help treat anemia and other iron deficiency symptoms.  These can also slow down aging in skin as these aid skin renewal process.

Knowing about what foods are good for certain ailments can help us in our fast recovery and for those who do not have any ailment, you are lucky but you also have to do your share in preventing these diseases by taking the right kind and right amount of foods daily.

Kids and Computers: How to Keep Your Children Safe Online

The internet has become something of a central fixture in our lives. Pretty much everyone has a PC with internet access in their home, and everyone expects you to have at least an e-mail address and frequent access to it. Many people even have personal websites. Subsequently, children are getting access to the internet themselves almost from the moment they can use a computer safely, and with that comes a major concern for parents. After all, you can access just about any kind of information online, even things of very questionable nature. Further, once your child has an online presence, other people can access their information too.

The sheer openness and lack of central control or authority on the internet, arguably one of its greatest strengths, poses a massive challenge to parents. How do you protect your child as they make their way down the information highway? How can you prevent them from seeing things they should not be seeing, and how do you prevent them getting tangled up in the many troubles and difficulties that comes with being a digital native?

Internet Safety 101

You do not want to stop your child using the internet, that is for sure. For one thing, the internet is a fantastic resource for information that can massively improve your child’s general knowledge and performance in school. Additionally, it is a great way to have fun, socialise and make friends not just across the country, but around the world. Furthermore, the internet is just too central to our way of life now. Full denial of access would just hamper your children.

Parental Controls

Fortunately, you plenty of help for keeping your kids safe. The first source of assistance comes from the internet browsers and providers themselves, as well as your virus security programmes. All of these will have Parental Control functions. Such functions can allow you to control what your child can see and has access to while on the internet, and is similar to the sorts of controls children have when using the internet at school. They will allow you to:
  • Filter/block certain websites and e-mail addresses.
  • Limit downloads
  • Place time limits on internet use.
  • Prevents your child from searching for certain words or key areas, such as pornography, violence, or the like.
Some websites and programs will also allow you to monitor your children’s computer access yourself. They do this by creating a log of search items or websites visited, or by allowing you a live feed into what the children can see on their screen. This means that if your child is on a website that they should not be, you will know about it. However, as your child gets older, they may find such measures intrusive and in violation of their privacy. Imagine how you would feel if someone was spying on you all the time, after all. So use this with caution.

If ever you download programs, files and apps, such as TV shows, video games or streaming software (such as Netflix), be sure only to use ones that have age-appropriate ratings. Streaming websites and software usually have Kids sections and parental controls themselves.

Include Your Child

As you start making plans for your child’s safety while on the internet, be certain that you talk through it all with your child first. Just sit them down and explain to them that, while the internet is most certainly fun, it can also be dangerous. Give a set of rules regarding its use, such as never setting up accounts to websites without your permission, never downloading things from websites without your permission, never accepting “friend” requests from or giving their contact details to strangers, and forbidden searches.

Encourage your child to be active with their internet safety as well. For example, if they ever encounter a website they should not be on, then teach them to tell you about it. This way you can delete it from your internet history folder and add the website to your filter list. Getting them to tell you about unknown contact requests or suspicious downloads is also immensely invaluable. Your child should also be aware that receiving rude or threatening messages online – known as “cyber-bullying” – is unacceptable, and they should tell you the moment they receive any messages that upset them. This will allow you to block those people and prevent them from sending any further messages. If necessary, block their IP number as well, which will block messages from any device using their internet connection.

Make sure your child takes breaks from the internet every half-hour as well, simply in the interests of their health. Find some activity or chore for them to do to keep them distracted from it, whether it is getting a drink or snack, or helping Mommy or Daddy put something away.

It might be an idea to sit with your child as they make their first forays onto the internet as well if only so you can talk them through it and teach them how certain things work. Doing so will allow you to ease them more gently into internet use and allow you to establish boundaries early on. Once your child has grown more comfortable with it, you can leave them to themselves for extended periods. Be sure to come back irregularly (say every fifteen to twenty minutes) to check up on them discretely.

Be sure to share any rules you have regarding the internet with any responsible for looking after your children on your behalf as well, such as babysitters or grandparents. This means they know what to do should you ever be out.

As Your Child Gets Older

The moment your child becomes familiar with the internet, keeping them safe becomes less of a challenge. Largely, this is because your child will learn and become used to common rules and norms of internet usage that are shared across websites (such as spamming or harassment). Will also be because your child will find their internet niches in which they are most comfortable, such as favorite websites or a fixed list of internet contacts. Chances are, being born to the internet as opposed to introduced to it, your child will come to have an even greater understanding of the internet than you do.

Even so, make sure you keep on top of your child’s internet safety. As your child grows older, they may decide, for example, to meet up with people they meet online in person, a natural consequence of the rather faceless nature of internet contact. Further, as they grow more established online, they may resent direct parental control and observation, and ask for you to let them do their own thing.

Ultimately you will have to start to trust your child on this sooner or later, as an obvious reluctance to do so will send a very negative message. Being obstinate about it may also just encourage your child to try and do what they want to do behind your back and without your knowing, which can be very dangerous in itself. Their best safeguard is having you remain aware of what they are doing.

In such cases, try to reach a compromise: you may decide to ease off on things like direct observation while insisting on more central ones website and search phrase blocks. You should also emphasise that your child must let you know if anything happens that upsets or unsettles them, or if they want to do anything online that requires your knowledge or consent such as downloads or arranging meet ups with online friends. If necessary, offer a revised rules list as well in which they’ve been allowed some input, but remember that the final say always comes from you. If you do not want your child to do something online that they insist on, tell them as such and why.

The writer of this article, Christian Mills, is himself a proud parent who writes on the side to help support his family. He knows the importance of maintaining a child's mental health through proper supervision of internet use, as well as their physical health through regular checkups and recommends finding a local pediatric care facility like Night Lite Pediatrics. How To Treat Dogs Mange

My cutest pet at home, Marcus has been suffering from Mange for more than a year now, I guess. He's been on a roller coaster ride battling against this disease.  had it not been for the fact that he is being monitored and taken care of diligently, probably this disease has already taken over his health seriously.  I've mentioned a number of times before that we really love this dog so much, in fact I'm treating him like my own baby.  He is a princess shih-tzu, the smaller breed and he's very loving and a very smart dog.  He filled our house with joy that we could not afford to lose him.  This is the reason why we're doing everything to get him cured.  My son had brought him a number of times to his Vet for consultation and some medications.  He was given some antibiotics and a soap specifically for mange.  He recovered after 2 bottles of antibiotics, I think but this mange would keep on coming back after a month or so.

My son knew the danger of giving Marcus antibiotics all the time, so he made a research to find other probable cure for Mange and this is where he came to know about the mysterious Madre Cacao, an herbal extract from Madre Cacao plant.  The product boast of it's effectiveness in treating mange in dogs as well as other skin related problems.  We didin't think twice and ordered Madre Cacao spray for Marcus's mange.

We noticed the improvement even before the whole bottle of Madre Caco was consumed.  There was a re growth of hair on his lower back which was used to be infected by mange.  I felt happy upon seeing those little strands of hair starting to come out.  That only means that the skin problem was addressed.

Unfortunately, our busy schedule prevents us from rigidly monitoring his Mange, we were confident that he already got cured so we seldom apply the madre caco spray on him the following month. Because of this, we've started to see mange developing on other parts of his body.  I've tried other possible cure.  From what I've researched, they say apple cider vinegar is good for mange but unfortunately, no notable improvement was seen after two weeks of applying it regularly on his infected skin.  So now, I am going back again to Madre Caco Spray.  We've just ordered the next bottle and I am determined to have his mange cured as soon as possible.

I will make another post once I got positive results.  well, I am crossing my fingers.  I can't afford to lose such a lovely pet.

Online Shopping Made Easy

One of the many perks that I enjoy when it comes to online shopping is the convenience of not having to fall in line in the mall when you want to pay your item or not having to go against the crowd during big sales.  Not leaving home just to shop for items you need also entails a big savings on your part.  Imagine not having to pay for gas or fare when you need to go out and buy something and more so, you could avoid incidental expenses like eating at expensive restaurants after you shop. There are tons of great rewards when you shop online.  More often, the question is, are you able to choose the right product you need from the trusted company online?  The answer to this of course is a big YES! Catalogs at enables you to choose from a wide variety of merchandise at various stores nationwide. You can explore popular stores and be ready for an ultimate shopping experience.  Not only that, you could also have great savings by using exclusive coupon codes available through

I guess, the convenience of online shopping has been a lot better now using  You are not only limited to seeing products from one store in one site.  This is same as roaming around the entire mall hopping from shop to shop in just a click of a mouse.  With all these advantages, who wouldn't go for online shopping? Really... online shopping has never been this good. :)

Positive Affirmations To Start Up Your Day

photo downloaded from Prolific Living Page

Last summer, I've downloaded a special audio clip on positive affirmations courtesy of Prolific Living.  Prior to that, I've been reading a lot of articles on positive affirmations and I think it's really helpful when you want to stay positive in dealing with your everyday life.  I used to be a kind of person who easily panic and get affected with problems.  I also get to the point of treating minor problems as a major catastrophe during my younger days.  I think, what they used to say is always true..."with age comes wisdom and maturity".  But of course, I am not saying that I am totally calm now in facing problems and difficulties, I do sometimes get affected but the way I handle these now is far better that how I used to before.

Listening to the audio clip on positive affirmations at the start of my every day can give me some kind of motivation to face each brand new day with high hopes and lots of positivity.  I used to listen to this audio clip while I am sipping my first cup of coffee in the morning.  You can also listen to your favorite songs afterwards, in my case, listening to vh1 top 100 songs of the 80s really works to put me in the right mood. This is just a motivation though, of course nothing beats the power of prayers but it always pays to be positive especially when you face life's daily challenges.

This has been one of the many positive changes I've adopted to my life recently since I've decided to stop working full time and stay at home with my family.  The Positive Affirmation audio book is free and you can download it online.

New Opportunities, Latest Happenings and "That Thing Called Tadhana"

New Opportunities

Life is full of surprises! Me and my kids were very busy for the past couple of months, we had been receiving lots of inquiries and orders for cup cakes.  There were times that we have to sleep late as we need to bake and finish the orders the following day.  Baking is my passion and I felt so happy that my son shares the same passion with me. We are always happy seeing our finished products and being appreciated by our customers.  Earning from it is just a bonus. :) We also had an event styling project last summer.  We are getting lots of inquiries for event styling but we have to turn down some due to time constraint.  We do not want to accept projects if we think that time is of essence and we couldn't guarantee an excellent result. Satisfying our clients is our biggest priority. My love for home decorating and crafting reunites me with this job.  Again, my son is a partner who always share the same skills and talents with me.  Such was a blessing.  Lately, I was given an opportunity to go back to seminars. Facilitating seminars and being a resource speaker is one of the things I love to do most. It brings me a great sense of fulfillment and it has always been a rewarding experience to be able to motivate and inspire people.

Latest Happenings

I am still busy with my online teaching and my students are increasing.  I was reluctant to do this at first because I'm afraid that I can't find enough time to do this.  I am basically in charge of everything in the house since my house helper left so obviously, managing my time effectively is indeed a challenge for me.  Glad that I've managed to do it and now, I'm beginning to love this job and my students, as well.  It was also a good thing that I was able to find a foreign employer that is so considerate and very easy to deal with.

We did a lot of decluttering in the house the past months and I am very happy that we were able to convert some "clutter" into cash.  My son's sales skills is really admirable.  He practically able to sell all our old stuff that are no longer in use and adding up clutter to the house.  I was also surprised that these items were sold at a good price.  As a matter of fact, some were bought at their original price and some were even bought higher than the original price. :) We were able to hit two birds in one stone, eliminate clutter and at the same time, make extra cash.  Proceeds of this yard sale were used to finance some minor repairs in the house and purchase of more important items.

Our old tenant from our house for rent also pulled out and we are very lucky to be able to find a replacement after a long wait and guess what? at a better deal of course.  From 10K a month, we were able to increase the rent for 15K a month.  Isn't that amazing?  God is really good and consulting HIM in all my plans and decisions really works to our favor.  To God be the glory!

That Thing Called Tadhana

My son Edmar resigned from his job in the Philippines last April and decided to work on his papers for a pending employment abroad.  I was having second thoughts allowing my son to work abroad. He is very young and it's not long ago that he graduated from college.  I find him too young to live on his own in a foreign land.  But what can I do?  He deserved to go for a greener pasture considering that he is bright, responsible and possess a lot of skills (pls. forgive me, I am a mother). Kidding aside, he is always on top of his class from elementary to college and he is well appreciated from his previous job.  At the back of my mind, I am thinking, "who am I to hinder his dream and progress?" The original date of his trip was moved to a much later date but now I understand why that happened. God allows him to fix all the things and issues in the house for our safety and security first. He helped me a lot with my seminars, doing all the paper works and coordination.  He also helped me process the transfer of the land title for our other lot.  I am too busy to handle everything alone and God finds a way to help me ease some burdens before my son settles to work abroad. He also managed to find a new tenant for our house for rent and have minor details in that house fixed first before the new tenant moves in.  I wouldn't be able to do everything without his help. GOD really moves in mysterious ways. I thank God for that!

Now my son had already pushed through with his trip and currently on his 3rd day in a foreign land. From the feedback I got from him, it seems that his living condition is okay and that he is surrounded by supportive and friendly individuals.  I just have one wish, that he be safe and comfortable in his new life away from home, that he is happy and at peace and that he would be able to love his work. I'm positive coz God gave us a hint.  He was consulted and He has given His promise.

I am happy to have received such tremendous blessings from the Lord.  Being happy and fulfilled in whatever you do is very important, financial rewards is just second to that.

I am happy with how's everything is going on with my life and my family....that thing called tadhana is not really a tadhana, it is a manifestation that good things come to people who works hard and knows how to persevere.

Thanks for dropping by!

What to Look for in a Home Caregiver
