Meet Lucio - The Newest Member In The Family

Mika's time has come! It's time to fulfill my promise to her. I should, right? After all, it was published in this blog that I will be buying a puppy for her especially after all my blogging friends and other visitors had expressed their support for Mikz to own a shitzu pup.

So, there we are! Last Sunday, I've decided to buy the new puppy for her, as promised. She wanted a male pup and so we got Lucio! I think, he's very cute and adorable so perhaps, Mikz was able to choose the right one for her. Lucio is just a month old. In fact, he is still into milk. He can't take solid foods now as he doesn't have a set of teeth yet (lol). Right now, we are feeding him with NIDO full cream milk as this is what he is already taking before he landed into our hands.

So without further ado, I would like to introduce Lucio, our newest member in the family.....

I guess, Mikz will now have a playmate and friend who could entertain her when off from school. Just timely coz one month more and it's going to be summer break again. At least there's someone new that she can spend time with. Now, I feel relieved as I'm sure that even after I come back to work, Mikz will not feel bored at home.

Good Luck to your new baby and playmate Mikz! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with him.

Bonding Time

My first two days in the Philippines were spent sleeping and having dinner outside with the family. My first day, I slept the whole day. I arrived past 10AM last Friday after a long night of non stop trips by plane and by bus. I was really tired but I need to fulfill my promise to my family. I promised to treat them at Sam's Pizza Haus for a late dinner. We were a bit disappointed because the band who was supposed to perform that night was not around and was replaced by another band whose performance was not really that remarkable. At any rate, we have to make the most of our family bonding time. We ordered quite a lot. Whole chicken in a wicket, jumbo size combination pizza, 2 orders of pancit bihon, 1 order of spaghetti, a pitcher of Coke and beers. I think this is quite a lot for 6 people. Me, my husband, two kids, my Mom and our house helper Ate Elsa. In fact, we were not able to finish the pizza and chicken. The jumbo sized pizza was quite big and we were only able to finish half of it. I wasn't able to take some pictures though as we were all excited to eat as soon as our order arrived on the table (lol).

Hubby didn't eat much, maybe because he was a bit tired too, since he came all the way from Manila to pick up his plane ticket and some documents from their office. We've enjoyed drinking though. I took frozen strawberry daquiri while hubby drink San Mig Light quite a lot. Even Ate Elsa was forced to drink, too. :)

We went home quite late, almost 12 midnight. If not for the fact that my husband was a bit drunk already, we should have gone to play slots for a while. Well, I still managed to play electronic BINGO for few games (lol) before we finally went home.

My first day in the Philippines was a bit okay although I was really complaining of my body pains non stop. No photos to share this time but will definitely share some on my future posts.

Hmmm...it's getting late, time to sleep.

Starting An Online Shop

I'm quite fascinated with the fact that most people are now into online business. I've seen some students who, at a very young age, are already setting their own trend in business. Well, it's not quite surprising as now a days, ecommerce solution is getting so popular that even those who are not really tech savy can create a website with much ease.

Setting up an online shop is getting so popular now because of the convenience and comfort that goes with having one. With an online shop, you can reach your target market without leaving your homes and because of the fact that most people are spending more time infront of their laptops surfing the web, marketing your products is as easy as ABC.

There are various things to consider in building your online shop. First, you must decide what products you want to sell. Second, you have to choose an "eye catching" name for your shop that can easily attract your prospective buyers. Third, you have to create a good design for your website which will clearly show what business you are really into. Fourth, you have to establish a payment system and have it incorporated in your own website. Lastly, you have to determine what methods of shipping can you provide to your clients. All these plus a registered domain name and a reliable web hosting services will complete all the basic steps in building a website of your dream. For a start, you don't have to press your heads too hard. There are lots of free video tutorials available online that can help you go through with that. Besides, there are lots of companies who are into ecommerce solutions that can handle all the technical aspects of your site for a reasonable fee.

Now, building your own website can very well be a worthwhile experience and you may be surprised that it only requires a bit of knowledge and experience, patience and a sheer determination to succeed.

Crazy Deals At Zenni's !

For somebody like me whose eyes are the dominant organ of the body being used at work, it's not quite surprising that I am now having a corneal irregularity in my vision. I am suffering from near-sightedness for so many years now. Currently, I'm using contact lenses which I do alternate with eye glasses on some occasions. My daughter who is likewise suffering from near-sightedness had been wearing her trendy eyeglasses for 3 years now. We must admit, eyeglasses are getting quite expensive now a days especially when you are looking for something that's comfortable and a perfect fit. Good thing that there are affordable eyeglasses being sold online at Zenni Optical.

Wearing eyeglasses now should not be a sickening experience. At Zenni Optical, they are offering rock bottom prices for prescription eyeglasses. Imagine a $6.95 prescription eyeglasses? With that price, you can wear glasses in style and even regularly update your prescriptions or if you are the fashionable type, you can even buy a dozen pair at one time with all those colors to match your outfit. It's really a steal! If your concern is the quality of the frames or glasses being used, there's nothing to worry because the positive feedback from Zenni Optical's returning customers can proved the product's quality and durability. This, on top of the convenience for having your eyeglasses delivered right at your home at a reasonable shipping fee. Ordering is relatively easy, you just have to get your measurements and prescription from your eye doctor, log on to their website, register an account, enter all the required information and the payment details and you are set to receive your new pairs of eyeglasses within a week or two.

Getting durable stylish eyeglasses are now even more affordable with the ongoing promo of buy 2 take 1 free. I think, it's worth a try!

Welcoming Change!

Hi Everyone!

I was a kind of busy the past few days, although I still managed to be online at least once a day. I can't afford to miss my pals eh. I was busy but I am happy.

A week from now, I will be at my native land once again, with my family, that is. I was just home last December and I'm sure that my blogging pals will all raise their eyebrows and say, what??? after reading this post.

No, I am not a part owner of the company who was given the privilege of going home whenever I pleases nor I have unlimited vacation leave. I have just submitted my resignation from this company few days ago. Life is really full of surprises. We never know what happens next. God has been very good to me. I was offered a better job with a better package in another company here and everything happens in a matter of 3 days. Surprisingly, I got an invitation for an online interview in the morning, was offered the job in the afternoon of the same day and my papers were processed in the next two days. It was very fast. Before I knew it, I am already filing my resignation in my current company.

I will be very busy in the next few days, basically packing my things, saying good byes to my friends and colleagues here, booking my two way flights, my hotel accommodation and coordinating with my new company about the details of my arrival after my 2 weeks vacation in the Philippines. I was very happy that my new employer is very considerate. I was allowed to see my family first before I finally join them. That was awesome!

Honestly, I was having a mixed emotions. I am happy about the fact that I am entering a new challenge in my life, an opportunity for growth and advancement. Of course, what makes me even happier is the fact that I can be of further service to my family and to my Mom who is actually under my care. They will always be a part of my achievements. But most of all, I am giving back the glory to God who is the ultimate source of all the blessing that's coming my way.

I do not know yet what lies ahead, but there's only one thing that I am certain of and that is to face challenges gracefully. As what the Lord said, "Fear not for I am with you!" Isaiah 41:10

"The sure way to miss success is to miss the opportunity."

The Good Thing About Buying Meat Online

Just recently, the National Meat Inspection Services(NMIS) in the Philippines had tied up with some local government units to upgrade the quality of meats being offered at the public markets. The objective is to protect the public from health hazards brought about by the contaminated meats and from buying "double dead" meats as practiced by some syndicates around the country. As a result, some meats on public market stalls on some areas in Greater Metro Manila had been confiscated by the authorities on the grounds of "improper handling and storage".

I think this is a good move from the government considering that the spread of communicable diseases has been so evident during the past years as a result of contaminated foods being sold on public markets. Honestly, I also have a bit of apprehension when buying meat directly from public stalls as I am much worried about the issue of sanitation. Whenever I go back to the Philippines, I always tried my best to get the meats from reputable meat shops such as Monterey to ensure that only high quality meats are being served on our table. I would admit, that when it comes to pricing, meats sold at Monterey is a little bit expensive than those being offered on public stalls in the market, but I think a few peso difference is not a big deal if you want to talk about health concerns. Proper handling and storage of meats, for me, is very important thus I prefer to go to reputable stores for our meat requirements. Another plus factor is that you can order meats through phone and have it delivered to your homes. However in some countries like the US, there are much better options like ordering meat online. I think it is very convenient for home makers as you are not only assured of best quality meats but you can also avoid the hassles of going to the super markets or meat shops. You also have the option to choose from a wide variety of meats available online or if you want to go for organic meat.

I would always welcome the idea of buying meat online. As a busy working Mom, safety and convenience are my top priorities. If I can hit two birds in one stone, then by all means.

Mom knows best!

Mikz Will Be Getting Her New Shitzu Puppy Soon!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Over the last week, I made a post, Why Should You Get Your Kid A Dog. This is a follow up on my previous post, My Daughter's Wish. I came up with a small fun game on my last post to get the opinion of my blogging buddies and readers. Should I get one for my daughter or not? I need at least 15 positive comments or YES votes to help me decide.

The result? I was a bit surprised from all the reactions/comments that I got. So far, no negative comments. Although there was a detailed comment which I got from a dear blogging friend Lainy and she had gone out of her way to explain everything about the pros and cons of having a shitzu dog. I appreciated her efforts for coming up with one. I'm sure she did spend some of her precious time to give a substantial input to that post. Thanks Lainz! That really helps a lot.

Most of the readers and my buddies go for a YES vote. I'm not sure if they were bribed by Mikz (lol) but, they were all supportive. Even Rovie who was never fond of dogs swing by at my blog numerous times to reiterate her appeal for a YES vote. She even follow up with me on what was the result of that simple game. KM, Algene and Rona had done their share, too. Looks like Mikz is getting a full support from my buddies. Isn't it so sweet Mikz?

Hmmm.... don't want to prolong this post, I'm sure Mikz is very excited to know if she's getting her shitzu pup soon.

Tadah! Congratulations Mikz, You're on your way to getting the shitzu pup of your dreams. You'll be getting it next month. But...please take care of your pet and give him your best love and care. After all, I will be using my online earnings to buy your shitzu (he-he). So please say thank you to my online sponsors (lol).

I fervently hope that I made you very happy with my decision and as a Mom, it's always my wish to see you very happy and contented. After all, you've been a very sweet and nice daughter and you never give me any problems even I'm away from you for some months in a year.

I am looking forward to see your photo with your new pet very soon!

Congrats anak!

"Swerte", "Malas" Or "Kapalaran"?

Hi friends! I was busy with the past few days trying to sort out things that matter most to me. I am constantly checking with my daughter about her preparations on her forthcoming activity in school. I was constantly monitoring the clothes that she's going to wear, her accessories, her shoes, who will fix her hair, etc. I'm forever a stage mother eh.

I was also texting with my son about our plans of shifting to a new ISP at home. I was not satisfied with GLOBE. During my last vacation, it took me 20 years to upload photos in my blog, 5 years to open a website, and 3 years to blog hop. With the very slow and unreliable connection, probably, I'll be a grandmother already before I can finish a task. (Lol)

Lastly, I was busy working on my immediate plans. Sometimes, I do get bored and been looking for something new. Well, at least away from my monotonous daily activities. I wanted to try and explore other things. Be it a new hobby or craft, a small business or other earning opportunities, or just simply plan for a trip.

Few days ago, I was talking with my colleague and friend about plans for the future. He mentioned to me that he wanted to engage himself in a business that would somehow augment his present income. He just get married over a year ago and already having a cute little daughter and he wanted to prepare for her schooling in few years time. He said he wanted to find ways to earn more if not, he'll be into a deep financial turmoil. Being a working Mom for so many years, I tried to share some pieces of advise to him. As I looked back, I had a recount of what had transpired in my life for the past years, from the time that I was just starting with my career until where I am now. I told my colleague that I also had a number of challenges at hand, a number of opportunities that come and go, a sudden shift of decisions and a number of sad and happy experiences. From everything that I went through, there's always one thing which I never failed to do. I am not a religious person, in fact I seldom go to church. But I do pray a lot. My colleague became interested with the topic and allowed me to continue. I told him that in every thing that comes along my way especially when it concerns major decisions in life, I always made it a point to ask God through my prayers. If there's an opportunity that comes along my way, I asked God, "If this thing is really for me and that You think that this will make me a better person, please let it happen without hindrances. But, if you think that this will not be good for me and that there is something better waiting for me, then by all means, give me a sign by putting obstacles along the way, so this thing won't push through."

This has been my faithful guide all through these years. If I wasn't able to get the thing that I aspire, I know that God choose it that way and I have something better to come. This way, I never feel upset on why did I fail to get some things that I really look forward to. On the other hand, when things go according to my plans, I always perceived it as God's will.

Sometimes, it's quite hard to decipher if what happens to our lives is "swerte", "malas" or "kapalaran". I was once asked this question, "Do you think you are the one driving your own fate or everything happens because it's a destiny?" This question had caught me mum for few minutes. After collecting everything back to my senses, I immediately replied, "We are the ones driving our own life. God gave us the wisdom to understand things. He gave us a choice and the freedom to exercise our own will. He made us understand things on their own perspective." Then, my friend asked, "So, you never believe in destiny? You never believe in luck?" I made a follow up answer, "I do!" This made him look at me curiously. He asked further, "So where do you stand now?" I paused for a while, and continued. "Life is what we make it. I believe in destiny. Things do happen according to our destiny, but we have a control over it. I believe in luck. But luck is something that we invite to come in our lives. Although luck is destined to come your way, but if you are a person full of negativity, even luck would walk away." My friend started to raise his brows over my answer. I continued, "Let me give this to you as an example, you want to get a good job but you never prepare yourself to have one as in you never find ways to increase your knowledge and skills. You are just waiting for your luck to happen and get it in an instant. You never welcome opportunities that come along your way thinking that things will just be too hard for you. Then it only means, that you are not positive in your approach to life. Nothing comes so easily. everything requires hard work." My friend begins to understand my point.

We have to trust ourselves that we can make things happen but we should also acknowledge that we need God's guidance to show us the way. I think it should be a combination of self worth, determination, perseverance and God's grace.

Let me share you this short story:

A man goes to a barber shop to have his hair cut. While the barber is working on his hair, they engaged themselves in a friendly discussion. The man asked the barber, "Do you believe in God". The barber immediately replied, "NO!" The man asked, "but why?" The barber replied, "If God exists, then why there are poor people, bad people and people who mess up with their lives." The man asked, "Do barbers exist?" The barber who was starting to get annoyed, replied, "So who do you think I am? I am now working on your hair, right?" The witty man continued, "If barbers exist, then look at that man outside the street, why his hair is too long and messy, even the beard not trimmed properly." The barber replied, "Because he never comes to me." Then the man shook his head and answered, "Precisely my point. People get miserable because they never come to God."

Now, let me go straight to my point, we drive our own lives. We have the freedom to do things. We have the wisdom to know what's good and bad for us. But we are not perfect. We are just humans. We do commit mistakes. We do make bad decisions, we get influenced by the things and people around us. That is why we have to humble ourselves. We are not all knowing, we have to ask God for guidance and He will surely show us the way....

Good luck

Hazel Jones - A Woman With Two Vaginas

Hazel's interview with ITV1

Have you already heard about uterus didelphys? It is a condition where a woman has a double set of reproductive tract organs. Meaning, two uterus, two cervix and two vaginas. In most cases, this condition had shown that woman's genitalia is normal on it's appearance, thus it is more often that this condition cannot be diagnosed at birth but rather, only during puberty stage, normally at the beginning of menstruation. Medical research had shown that in this condition, one vagina is blocked, thus the flow of menstrual blood will likewise be blocked, resulting to a menstrual blood build up, which may later cause abdominal pains. Study shows that this condition allows the woman to get pregnant but often leads to repeated miscarriages.

Recently, a British woman, aged 27 was diagnosed with uterus didelphys. Hazel Jones was already married but without children. She said during her interviews that she didn't get to realize her abnormal condition until she was 18. Hazel was never been skeptical about this thing and never hide her condition to anybody. Because of this, she was offered to do an adult movie for $1 million but she rejected the offer. She' still hoping to have a baby someday but she's worrying about the risks of pregnancy brought about by her condition.

Well, I guess this is one of the rare cases of abnormality a woman suffers but with the advancement in technology, this abnormality can be addressed and can hopefully bring back the life of the affected woman in a normal state.

Why Should You Get Your Kid A Dog?

Why should I get my daughter a dog?

This has been the one million dollar question that I've been asking myself since I got back to Cambodia after my month long vacation in the Philippines last December of 2011. I had a post before here in this blog, entitled "My Daughter's Wish". Little that I know that since I made that post, my daughter has really been expecting too much to get her shitzu pup. Before Christmas, she was expecting that she would get it as her Christmas gift but it didn't turned out that way. Then the following month was her birthday, January 04, but then again, no shitzu pup arrived in the house.

I didn't really pushed myself too much to get one for her coz of so many projects that were long overdue and I just wanted to set my priorities. After all, a shitzu pup is not that cheap, huh?

One day, when me and my son had the appointment with the Doctor for our check up, my son purposely asked me to just walk instead of taking a ride going to my daughter's school. Later only that I realized, that his purpose for doing so was to divert my attention as we will be passing by one pet shop on our way to the school. When he pointed the pet shop to me and asked me to check inside, then I realized that he intentionally planned for it. Perhaps, in collaboration with his little sister, of course. We checked on the pets inside the shop and I almost was tempted to buy. I checked the price, it's a whopping Php8,000 and the shop keeper said the last price would be Php7,000. Still having a strong self control, I didn't buy one that time. I don't want to mess up with my budget.

Now that I'm back to my work, sometimes I would see some cute pictures of shitzu on magazines and online. Now, I have this one million dollar question, "should I get one for her?"

Come to think of it, there should also be quite a number of advantages as to why we should get our kid a pet. The following might be some of the obvious reasons:

1.) Dogs are man's best friend. If your kid has her own pet, she would have a steady companion. The thought of having a cute little bunch of joy who would welcome your kid after coming from school is already a plus factor. Kids might be rushing to go back home instead of roaming around coz they will be looking forward to see their pet at home waiting at the door.

2.) Pets are good stress relievers. When they feel sad or stressful after along day in school, someone is there to comfort them and play with them.

3.) Pets are good for mental health. They said, shitzu are easy to train. They can communicate effectively with their master. Your kids will find ways to interact with them by teaching them some tricks and this will be a good mental exercise.

4.) Kids will learn about unconditional love. Unlike humans, dogs will always be there to love your kids unconditionally with all his/her imperfections. They won't bully or criticize your kids and love them for who they are. They will love your kids without expecting anything in return.

5.) Everybody in the house will enjoy the pet, young and old. It seems that there is an additional member in the family. The dog can entertain everyone in the house and bring such a great joy.

6.) Your kids will be trained to be responsible as they would not only need to take care of themselves now but another valuable member of the family, as well.

Now, I have this idea in mind, I would like to ask my readers and friends.

Would I get one for my daughter?

I will make a promise to myself. If I get at least 15 positive comments saying YES within a week time, I will really buy one without hesitation.(lol)But, if it doesn't reach my quota, then I should totally drop that idea.

Okay, timer starts NOW!!
